Guatemalan Shoes

Guatemala is close the equator and has a warm climate through all seasons.  Even in the highlands, most Guatemalans don’t have much need to protect themselves from the elements with clothing.  Mayans typically wore sandals, and Guatemalans carry on the same tradition.  Guatemalan shoes can range from simple sandals to elaborate sandals with straps, beading, and colors.  Traditional Guatemalan shoes are usually made of leather.  As the Guatemalans are fond of decorative and ornamental fashions, Guatemalan shoes are often decorated with wooden or stone beads, with etched or stitched designs, or with bright colors.  Both Guatemalan men and women typically wear sandals.
